MATZ LAMDAN has been making mosaics again since he retired from his big tractor(s) at the age of 70! Now he's firmly
ensconced in his own studio adjacent to that of his wife, Yonina, in Kibbutz Urim. This new mosaic of Jerusalem Arches
was done in honor of the 11th annual exhibit of Urim Artists on Rosh Hashana, fall of 2001. It stayed on permanent
loan on the entrance wall of TZIURIM ART GALLERY in the Cultural Center of Kibbutz Urim.

Blue Elephants are one of Yael's favorite things since her trip to Thailand. She came back with many, and Matz added
this wall mosaic of Blue Elephants for her home in Urim, the Melchior Mansion.

In the Kibbutz Urim Cultural Center, Matz' mosaic of the Seven Species adorns the round wall of the Coffee House. The
mosaic is 6 meters long and one meter wide, of tesserae of Israeli stones, including the natural copper stones of Timna.
The above picture is one half. Following is the other half of the mosaic.
Following are four views of details from the 6 meter round wall mosaic of Seven Kinds: Dates, Olives, Pomegranates,
Wheat, Barley, Figs, Grapes. This mosaic was completed on commission before the opening of the Urim Cultural Center
in the early sixties of the twentieth century. It still is as beautiful as it was then and adorns the Coffee Club
Room in Kibbutz Urim, Negev, Israel. Come see!
